Continuous Ink Jet

The Needham Group, exclusive UK distributor for Citronix continuous ink jet is pleased to announce the release of SmartFlush printhead cleaning using a fifth valve. Through software and fluidic development a method has been created to allow the SmartFlush operation with an additional valve replacing the pump; this is the latest development from Citronix for improved printhead cleaning to ensure seamless shutdown and startup of the Citronix continuous ink jet printers.

Technical Review/Summary:
The “new” SmartFlush routine will provide a nozzle flush cleaning and gutter flush cleaning vacuum at each Jet Stop process. In the event the entire Jet Stop is not completed before power off, the main screen will provide notice that a manual cleaning may be required at next power on.

In addition, Citronix has disabled the SmartFlush operation at Jet Start. As a result of field feedback it is determined that the head can remain wet during the startup routine in certain application environments resulting “HV Trip Errors”; this “new” SmartFlush will eliminate “HV Trip Errors” at startup of all Citronix continuous ink jet systems fitted with the SmartFlush printhead cleaning feature.
